When It's Time to Unpack Your Bags

When we travel through this life we take our baggage with us. We check it on a plane. We load it in our cars. We drag it around on four wheels, we bear the weight of it all in our souls, and we hold our breath hoping no one says it's too heavy to take with us.

Thankfully there's a God who doesn't ask us to check our baggage at the door. Instead, he says I know where you've been. I see where you're coming from. And I know where you're headed. I see what's weighing you down, and if you'd let me, I would love to take it off your hands.

He is our free checked bag at the gate. Jesus is the gate, and God is the one who comes over the intercom every now and again to remind us things are getting full, and if we would just bring our baggage to him, he'd happily take it off of our hands - free of charge. He says, "I'll take it from here and check this to your destination where all you'll have to do is claim it." He is our free checked bag at the gate.

Thankfully, we don't have to clean up our baggage, get organized, or give our extra stuff to someone else to carry before we catch the plane. All we have to do is walk through the gate, give up what we don't have to carry on our own, and he will meet us at baggage claim.
